The company remains one of the European utilities with a significant research and development activity and effort on innovation: around 2,000 people are presently employed at EDF R&D. The purpose of the EDF R&D Materials and Mechanics of Components department is to lead the investigations needed to meet security requirements, reliability and productivity of industrial facilities in the fields of materials and mechanics. Its activity extends to all means of power generation (nuclear, coal, combustion turbines, dams…), the management of nuclear waste (storage, transmutation) and accompanying the commercial offer of the EDF group.

Role in the project

EDF will lead Work Package 1, whose planned activities are:
• Providing pipes and polymers;
• Carrying out accelerated ageing closed to normal NPP operation;
• Characterizing ageing thanks to reference measurements done by infrared spectroscopy

Universitat Jaume I

Universitat Jaume I

Partner - Higher education and research institution

Universitat Jaume I  is a public academic and research institution serving a community of approximately 15,000 students. It that was founded in 1991 and is specially focused in robotics research and education as well as computer science, engineering, chemistry, business studies and material sciences.

The members of the UJI team for El-Peacetolero project are researchers at the IRS Lab, which has a strong background in different topics of robotics, always applied to real scenarios (e.g. underwater, fire, radiation), including manipulation, perception and HRI.

 Role in the project

The role of UJI in the project is the design and implementation of activities related to the integration of the sensor in a robot, and demonstrating that it can be used at a distance via an operator that brings the robot to both, the interior and exterior of a pipe, maintaining safety of the personnel.
